Fix the floor rather than cover it up

Most flooring failures are preparation failures. Vinyl that lifts, epoxy that peels and tiles that drum are nearly always sitting on adhesive residue, a curing compound or a slab that was never flat enough to start with. Grinding takes all of it back to sound concrete so the new floor bonds to the slab instead of to what was left on it.

The same machines fix safety problems. A lifted slab edge across a footpath, a shopfront or a shed floor is a trip hazard and a liability, and grinding the lip off is far quicker and far cheaper than cutting the panel out and pouring a new one.

It is dust controlled work. The grinders run on extraction at the head, so we work inside trading shops, offices, pubs and finished houses without shutting the place down or leaving silica dust through it.

What we get asked to grind

Some of it is safety, some of it is preparation, and a fair bit of it is undoing what the last trade left behind.

Concrete grinding in Echuca, two jobs under one name

Concrete grinding around Echuca and Moama splits into two jobs with very little in common. The other is preparation: getting a floor flat and clean enough that whatever goes down next stays there.

The preparation end is where money gets saved rather than spent. Extraction runs at the head, so a trading cafe, pub or shop stays open while we do it, or we come in overnight and it is finished before the doors open.

Can you grind out a trip hazard instead of replacing the slab?

In most cases yes, for a fraction of the cost. Where a panel has lifted at a joint we grind the lip back to a safe transition rather than cutting the panel out and repouring it.

Will grinding remove tile adhesive?

Yes. Adhesive, glue residue, levelling compound and old sealers all come off, and that is usually the difference between a new vinyl or epoxy floor lasting and lifting inside a year.

How much dust does it make?

Very little. The grinders run with extraction at the head, so we work in occupied shops, offices, pubs and houses. Uncontrolled concrete grinding produces silica dust, so it is not something we do.

Can you grind a polished finish?

That is a different service with a different set of passes. Grinding gets a floor flat and clean. If the slab is meant to be the finished surface, that is our polished concrete work.

Do you remove line marking from carparks?

Yes. Grinding takes painted lines and bays off without the ghosting you get from painting over them, which matters when a carpark is being remarked to a new layout.

Can you work overnight in a trading Echuca shop?

Yes, and it is usually the right answer. We run 24 hours, so a retail or hospitality floor gets ground and prepped overnight and is ready for the flooring trade before opening.
