Riverside Concrete Cutting
Polished concrete floor finished in an Echuca building, aggregate showing through an even sheen

Polished ConcreteEchuca

Husqvarna Superfloor accredited. The slab you have already paid for, turned into the finished floor.

The floor is already there

Polished concrete is not a covering. It is the slab itself, ground back through progressively finer diamonds and densified until it takes a polish. There is nothing to lift, nothing to re glue and nothing to replace in ten years, which is why over the life of a building it works out cheaper than most things you would lay on top of it.

How much aggregate shows is a decision rather than an accident. A burnished finish stays in the cream and reads nearly plain. A honed finish opens up the sand. Full exposure grinds into the stone for the terrazzo look. We grind a test patch on your slab so you are choosing off the real thing.

Riverside Concrete Cutting is a Husqvarna Superfloor accredited contractor, and the polished side of the business travels a long way. Queensland, and across to New Zealand. Echuca and Moama are the easy end of that list.

Where it goes down

New slabs and old ones. What you can get out of an existing floor depends on what has been done to it, which is what the first site visit is for.

  • New homes

Polishing the slab as the finished floor through the living areas, so there is no timber, tile or vinyl to buy now or replace later.

  • Renovations

Grinding back an existing slab once the carpet, tile or vinyl comes up, and finding out what is actually under there first.

  • Cafes, pubs and venues

Hospitality floors that take a hammering through a long weekend and still clean up with a mop the next morning.

  • Shops and showrooms

Retail floors that stay looking sharp under constant foot traffic without a coating to strip and redo every few years.

  • Sheds and garages

Sealed or polished shed floors that stop the dusting and do not stain the first time something gets spilled on them.

  • Floor coatings

Where polishing is not the right answer, epoxy and grind and seal systems over a properly prepared slab.

Finished polished concrete floor in Echuca showing an even aggregate exposure across a large room

Polished concrete in Echuca homes, venues and sheds

Polished concrete around Echuca and Moama covers three fairly different jobs. New homes where the slab becomes the finished floor through the living areas. Cafes, pubs and venues that need a floor which survives a long weekend of foot traffic and cleans with a mop. And sheds, garages and workshops where the point is a hard, dust free surface rather than a look.

Hospitality is the one worth thinking about early. A polished floor in a trading venue means grinding, which means dust control and a shutdown window, so it gets planned around the quiet weeks rather than the busy ones. We work nights on these jobs regularly for exactly that reason.

The price range reflects the spread. Around $70 a square metre at the burnished end on a clean new slab, up to around $180 for full exposure on a floor that needs real preparation first. Where your job lands depends on the slab you have, not on a price list, which is why it gets quoted on the floor with a test patch ground into it.

Asked often

How much does polished concrete cost in Echuca?

It runs from around $70 per square metre up to around $180, driven by the finish level, the condition of the slab and how much preparation it needs. A burnished finish on a clean new slab sits at the bottom of that range and full exposure on an old floor at the top.

What is the difference between burnished, honed and full exposure?

How far down into the slab we grind. Burnished stays in the cream and reads nearly plain, honed opens up the sand, and full exposure cuts into the stone for the terrazzo look. We grind a test patch on your slab so you choose off the real thing.

Can you polish an existing floor?

Often, yes. Once the covering and the adhesive come off we can see what the slab is really like. Older floors can carry patches, penetrations and colour variation, and that is a conversation to have before you commit rather than after.

Can you do it without closing the venue?

We work nights and quiet weeks on hospitality jobs so the floor is done around trade rather than through it. Grinding needs the area sealed off while it is happening, so we plan the staging with you before anything starts.

Is polished concrete slippery?

Less than people expect. A polished floor is dense rather than glossy, and where slip rating matters, in a commercial kitchen or an entry, we specify the finish and the sealer to suit instead of polishing it as far as it will go.

Are there terms and conditions on polished concrete work?

Yes. Concrete is a natural material and no two slabs finish identically, so our polished concrete terms cover variation, existing slab condition and what we can and cannot guarantee. They sit on the terms page rather than buried in a quote.

Come and look at the slab

Area, whether the slab is new or has had a covering on it, and the look you are after. Polished concrete gets quoted on the floor, not over the phone.
