Square openings, no making good

A wall saw runs on a track bolted to the surface, so the blade follows a line. The opening comes out plumb, square and exactly where it was marked, which is the difference between a frame that drops straight in and a day of packing, chipping and patching.

It cuts to 730mm deep from one side, so most walls, slabs, pits and shafts get done without touching the far face. That matters when the other side is a neighbouring tenancy, a live cool room, a channel full of water or plain dirt.

It also cuts flush to an adjoining wall, floor or ceiling, so an opening runs right into the corner instead of stopping short of it. No uncut nib left to jackhammer out by hand, no chipped return, nothing for the builder to make good on a finished building.

How thick a wall can you cut?

Up to 730mm working from one side only. Where we can reach both faces we cut from each side and go thicker again, and past that the wire saw takes over.

Can you cut an opening without access to the other side?

Yes, and that is the main reason a wall saw gets used. It reaches full depth from one face, so a neighbouring tenancy, a cool room, a live basement or a wall against dirt does not have to be opened up.

Will the opening be square enough for a door frame?

Yes. The saw runs on a bolted track, so the cut follows the set out rather than a pair of hands. Openings come out plumb and square to the dimensions you give us.

Do you cut right into corners?

The blade cuts flush to adjacent surfaces, so an opening can run up to a floor, a return wall or a ceiling. The last few millimetres of a corner get finished with a hand saw or ring saw so nothing has to be broken out.

Is it noisy and messy?

It is a diamond blade and water, so there is noise and there is slurry. We bund and vacuum the water, and on a trading building in Echuca we will do the cut overnight or on a weekend so nobody has to work beside it.

Do you take the cut section away?

Yes. We drill lifting points, cut the panel into liftable pieces, take it out and cart it off. The concrete goes to a recycler rather than to landfill.
